Dear Indian Bhais and Behens,
I understand that it might be a tough time for all of you, but I want to tell you that India definitely have full support from Hong Kong. Under the rule of CCP, we Hongkongers totally comprehend what kind of country you are now facing. In the following, I would like to introduce a bit about the situation in HK to give you some insights about the nature of China and what India should do to confront it.
As you may know, Hong Kong is supposed to be a semi-autonomous region, by the Sino-British Declaration that Britain returns the sovereignty of Hong Kong to China, while such agreement is only made by a small number of elites from both countries that majority of HK citizens have absolutely no say. To reassure Hongkongers at that time, China has promised “One country, two systems” to allow HK to remain its lifestyle, which is very different from mainland’s authoritarian rule. Unfortunately, China has been tightening its grip on HK in recent years. In 2015, five staffs of a HK bookstore, which sells a lot of books criticizing the CCP leaders, have been secretly kidnapped to mainland China. Last year, the HKSAR government, which is now a puppet of CCP, even attempted to establish a controversary extradition bill viewed as a further step to erode HK’s autonomy. This is how the Hong Kong protest starts. While millions of us took to the street, the government chose to ignore people’s will. At that time, we realised that under the rule of CCP, who never give us the real universal suffrage as promised, there is no way the government works for the people here. Till now, we are still fighting for our freedom and democracy.
From the case of Hong Kong and also the pandemic, we know that China is not trustable at all. In fact, CCP is one of the biggest human rights violators or even terrorist organizations. Looking at how they locked up millions of Uyghurs in a so-called “re-education camp”, it is hard not to compare them to the Nazi Germany with such an amount of similarities. Despite the one-party dictatorship, CCP also plays a very dangerous role in pushing its citizens to extreme nationalists. I mean, there is nothing wrong to be proud of your own nation, but what the current leader Xi Jinping dreaming is to make China as great as in the old dynasties that it conquered the whole Asia. Such expansionist mindset is wide spread among the mainland Chinese, due to the internet censorship.
In China, you can have your freedom of speech to criticize the US government, but if you dare to speak anything against CCP, well god bless you. Moreover, CCP blocks most of the foreign sites like Facebook, Google, and Twitter so that the citizens could not communicate with the outer world to know the truth. In this ridiculous environment that only allows one side of voices, of course the people are leaded to extremism with the lack of critical thinking. Although I have seen some mainlanders who actually support Hong Kong and against CCP, they are surely the minority. Others take an aggressive attitude towards all the foreigners and the universal values. In the 21st century, China is a rising threat to the whole free world with no doubt.
To undermine the power of CCP, we have developed several tactics besides protests. One is the ABC challenge (Anywhere but China), inspired by the boycott of British cloth in the India independence movement. In HK, we consume based on political stances that we encourage buying in local stores which back the protesters, and boycott all the pro-Beijing companies that support the police brutality. It is quite successful that we have already dragged down the profit of some Chinese companies significantly. I heard that in India you guys are doing the similar, which is definitely a right move. Every dollar you spent is a vote. Don’t let it become a bullet pointing towards your own troops.
Despite the Chinese business, please be aware of your politicians. There is a worldwide trend that CCP loves to bribe foreign officials or members of parliament to make them silenced for China’s misconducts. In addition, everyone should pay attention to the technological invasion. Stop using Chinese apps like Tiktok or Zoom. They are designed to spy on foreigners and they also play political censorship as in mainland China. You should also be careful about the media and education institutions that some of them are funded by CCP to perform infiltration and brainwashing. Trust me, we know how dangerous this country is.
Hong Kong stand with India. Together, let’s fight the tyranny.
